Dear Colleagues,
I am inviting you to become part of the Oregon Association of Bilingual Education (OABE)’s statewide network as a Chapter Representative to support our advocacy activities to cultivate a multilingual, multicultural society. As an ELL/Migrant Coordinator at the ESD in your region, you are well positioned to disseminate information about bilingual education in Oregon while recruiting new members and supporters for OABE at all levels of the education system.
As a stronger and renewed organization OABE’s vision for the next sixteen months is to propel a statewide campaign to unify all stakeholders in support of linguistic diversity and multiculturalism. It is time for Oregon to have a single voice in advocating for English Plus World Languages in schools as a viable option and a vital resource in today’s global society. OABE is planning to host a premier Summer Conference in 2009 and your involvement would be most welcomed. We have an opportunity to work together and be at the cutting edge of teaching and learning to enhance the quality of education for English language learners and bilingual students.
OABE embraces multilingualism and multiculturalism as essential skills for the Twenty-First Century. We urge you to become involved and be part of the changing force by completing the attached Letter of Commitment and Support and sending back to me.
Looking forward to working with you in the coming months, I remain,
Sincerely,
Liliana Heller-Mafrica, Ed.D.
